Growing up, I always spent every holiday with my family. Not a Christmas went by that we didn’t gather around the tree, decorate together, or go shopping for the perfect gifts. However, since getting married, my husband and I have traveled all across the country. That leaves very little time to spend with my family during the holiday season. My mom is now decorating alone and presents rarely get wrapped until the day before Christmas. For someone that loves the holidays as much as I do, it leaves me feeling a little sad that I can’t be there with my family.
Even though getting married has left me hours from my family, that doesn’t mean we don’t still make Christmas our one time out of the year that we all get together. Part of what makes the holidays so special is that I can finally see everyone at once. Friends, family, extended relatives, and now, my in-laws. For me, the holidays mean family. Although shopping for the perfect gift is important, seeing the look on family’s face when they open it is where the true reward is.
SunTrust Makes it Easy to Plan for the Holidays
However, even though the holidays are my favorite part of the year, planning for them isn’t always easy. With over 30 gifts to buy just for my family (not including my husband) and traveling almost 8 hours home and between families, we usually need an extra $1,000 around the holidays to make it all work. For us, that isn’t easy.
SunTrust helps give us peace of mind knowing we have saved and budgeted enough to get us to the new year. The holiday planning guide is perfect for helping me plan ahead for the expensive holiday season. According to the National Retail Federation, people spend an average of $800 during the holiday season, but getting a jumpstart can make that money seem a lot less ominous. The Holiday Planning Guide helps reduce the stress of the holidays by giving a plan for how and when to spend money. From saving all year long to choosing Black Friday sales to get the best bang for my buck, I know I can get the perfect gift and still be able to enjoy my family during the holidays without worrying about the money.
Planning Ahead makes Shopping Easy
Before I go to the mall or to the local shops to find gifts, I always consult the SunTrust Budget Planning Guide. Not only can I put in how much I anticipate to spend, but it helps me see how much I can spend on each family member to still stay under budget. I love being able to spoil my husband during the holidays, and by budgeting my gifts during the year, I’m able to really purchase the perfect present for under the tree.
#holiday Means Making Memories
SunTrust knows the holiday season isn’t all about gifts, and they share my philosophy of spending time with family and making memories.
